Recently, it finally clicked for me that I needed to put more stringent restrictions on whom I allow to speak into my life, and I invite you to do the same.
Since the beginning of 2008, I have been reading one chapter from the book of Psalms each morning, and I highly recommend it as a solid way to start your day. And as I progressed through the first division of Psalms, my mind kept drifting back to Psalm 1:1 – “BLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” (King James version)
It was on my mind so heavily, that I eventually got a piece of paper and a pen and made a list of my godly counselors. And it has made all the difference in the world! Now, it is not that I no longer listen to people, but only those who are my godly counselors speak words that I allow to take root in my heart.
Take 5 minutes today, read and meditate on Psalm 1, then make a list of those who have provided you with godly counsel. And listen to them a lot differently than those who do not make the cut.
